# Recover an interrupted tool request

> Ask your agent to recover an uncertain tool response before trying again.

[Agent guide: CLI and SDK instructions →](/docs/sdk-v2/tool-execution-recovery)

## 1. Have your context ready

Keep the original request details, any saved execution identity, and the time of the interruption. Do not create a replacement request first.

## 2. Ask your agent

Paste this into your agent, then provide your task and example inputs when it asks:

```deepline-prompt theme={null}
/deepline-gtm Investigate the Deepline tool request whose response was interrupted. Use the original execution identity and request information to inspect existing state. Explain whether the result is complete, still running, failed, or uncertain. Recover the retained response when available. Do not change the original input or create a new paid request merely because the first response was lost.
```

Complete any requested sign-in yourself. Give the agent the missing information before approving execution. Provider-backed work can incur usage.

## 3. Review the result

The agent distinguishes an execution result from an uncertain outcome and reconciles recorded usage. A recovery key is scoped to the original input; it is not permission to repeat unrelated work.

Ask your agent:

```deepline-prompt theme={null}
/deepline-gtm Compare the result with the acceptance rule we agreed. Show the evidence for accepted and rejected outcomes, unresolved questions, and recorded Deepline usage where work ran. If work is still running or a response is uncertain, inspect the original saved execution before proposing another request. Explain the next decision I need to make.
```

Approve a larger job, recurring work, or external changes only after reviewing that decision.

## Check your understanding

The original response is uncertain. Should the agent change the input and reuse the original request identity?

> No. Ask it to inspect the original request first. A changed task is separate
> work, not recovery of the original response.
